Keep our Kaffeeklatsch afloat

Donation protected
Hello Lake City! We are still here, but it has been a rough year. Covid has cost all of us dearly in lifestyle, daily patterns, or livelihood. Adjusting to the patterns has been a challenge we have devoted ourselves to completely. We want to continue to provide that daily spark to our community. The joy I get from seeing our regular crowd coming through is not to be underestimated. The connections I see being made at a distance throughout the last months has given us the drive to keep going, and not give up despite seemingly insurmountable odds for small businesses all over the city.

From a couple of regular customers who save the Times sports column for a fellow coffee drinker (and sports enthusiast) at Kaffeeklatsch, to the plethora of kind actors who pull me aside to ask "How are things REALLY going around here?", we notice and appreciate so many small act of kindness that come through our space. These acts are what make our community real, they are what keep us kicking, so to speak.

My answer to the question of how we are doing? Not too great. We are happy and proud to have 10 people back on staff, thanks to the community coming in and supporting us, but it is a losing financial battle. We have small victories here and there; good days that give us hope. Unfortunately, our Profit and Loss sheets paint a fairly bleak picture. We are focused on losing money as slowly as possible, but short of closing until this disaster is over, there is little we can do to stay afloat by our own means.

It looks as though a federal response will not come soon enough to save the restaurants and cafes of Seattle, so we are once again turning to you, our community. This time though, we had a fun idea; we will share one of our recipes with each person donating $100 or more. While we aren't taking recipe requests, we do take recommendations...

Also, for anyone donating $500 or more, we will host a private workshop for you, and teach you in a safe, distanced setting, in our wholesale kitchen how to make pretzels the real way. The workshop can also be saved for a post-vaccine world.

For both of these 'perks', please send your full name and contact information to our email address listed on our website (we aren't allowed to post it here) and we will work with you to set something delicious up.

Thank you Lake City - We can do this!
