For those who may not know our story, my son Kaedyn has been fighting a battle that no child should ever have to face.

In early 2018, Kaedyn was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD), a rare disorder that affects the immune system. He also developed secondary Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a serious and life-threatening complication. At just one year old, he underwent his first bone marrow transplant, but unfortunately, it did not work. After years of fighting, hoping, and navigating the challenges of his condition, we are now facing a second bone marrow transplant in hopes of giving him the healthy future he deserves.

As his momma, there are no words to describe what it feels like to watch your child go through so much and know that he still has another enormous battle ahead of him. I would take every bit of this pain away from him if I could. If I could trade places with him, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Right now, our world revolves around getting Kaedyn through this transplant safely. This journey involves intensive treatment, hospital stays, and a long recovery. My priority is being right there beside my boy, holding his hand, comforting him through the scary moments, and reminding him every single day how loved he is.

While his medical care is our biggest concern, the reality is that this journey brings financial challenges for our family, too. Gas, food, household bills, and everyday expenses do not stop when your child needs you at the hospital. With so much uncertainty ahead, I am trying to make sure I can focus on Kaedyn and his recovery without constantly worrying about how we will manage everything else.

Asking for help is not easy for me. As a mom, you want to be the one who takes care of everything for your child. You want to be strong for them, protect them from the scary things, and somehow make everything okay. But the truth is, I can’t take this battle away from my boy, and I can’t do everything alone. Right now, I know that allowing others to help us through this journey is okay, too.

If you are able to donate, any amount, no matter how small, would mean more to us than I could ever explain. Every donation will help ease the financial burden of this journey and help with expenses such as gas, food, household bills, and other necessities while I focus on being there for Kaedyn. If you are unable to donate, sharing our story, keeping Kaedyn in your prayers, and continuing to send love and encouragement mean just as much.

Our boy has already fought so hard in his little life, and we are praying that this second transplant gives him the chance at the healthy future he deserves. We have a long road ahead of us, and there will be difficult days, uncertainty, and moments when we have to take things one step at a time. But we will keep fighting, keep hoping, and keep believing that brighter days are ahead.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for loving Kaedyn, for supporting our family, and for helping us through one of the hardest chapters of our lives. Every prayer, every kind word, every share, and every donation means more than you will ever know. We are so grateful for the people who continue to stand beside our boy and remind us that we are not alone.

Please continue to pray for Kaedyn, for a successful transplant, for healing, for strength, and for the healthy future we want so badly for him.

With love and gratitude,

Kaedyn’s momma
