My name is Kadine Plummer. I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE (Auto Immune Deficiency Disease) after the birth of my handsome baby boy 10 years ago and now I've been diagnosed with Kidney Disease.
Over the years I've been in and out of the hospital, experiencing severe joint pains, flares all over my body, swelling of the ankles It's been an emotional roller coaster for me. The medications that were prescribed for me are ones I have to take every day in order to supress the disease just so I can have a chance of a normal life.
Since the last time I've posted. Everything went downhill. I've been admitted into the hospital twice. My kidneys have now gone bad and I'm now on dialysis. The cost of dialysis is 10,000 JMD per session and it's recommended by my Nephrologist that I receive treatment three times per week, however, we can only afford two sessions per week.
I have to travel 1 &1/2 hours to another parish in order to receive the treatment because all the Dialysis centre in my area is full . Traveling plus getting a transportation has been very costly. My blood count is at an all time low. (Anemic) so my doctor recommended that blood transfusion be done immediately.
I've also developed another condition called ulcerative colitis. As if dealing with one thing is not bad enough.
I'm not able to work any more. And the doctors visits and medication along with dialysis has become a big financial strain on me and my family and I have no health insurance to assist. So, I'm writing again because I'm in need of help.
