Kade passed away peacefully at home in our arms on the morning of August 26, 2021. During his life, we were blessed to have support from so many individuals and organizations who helped us navigate through his journey.

Child Life is a team of specialists who support children and families during hospital stays. They plan daily activities for all kids including games, crafts, live entertainment, pet therapy, and so much more. They explain medical interventions to both children and family and help them cope with the stress that a hospital stay brings.

In the past few months, Kade spent a significant amount of time at both Nemours and Mount Sinai. The Child Life teams at both of these hospitals were exceptional. They checked in on Kade every day and made sure he had everything he needed to feel safe and comfortable during his hospitalizations. Child Life provided books, toys, paint supplies, and stuffed animals for Kade. They also organized music therapy sessions during times when Kade was awake and alert, as well as times when he was receiving interventions. In addition to support Kade, they were a huge support for us as well. The therapists supported us through conversation, pet therapy, and making keepsakes.

His hospitalizations were less stressful and scary because of them. We would love nothing more than to support their teams as they provide these services to other children and their families.

We will evenly distribute any donations between the Child Life teams at Nemours Children's Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital in NYC.
