Kacey Opper's Medical Fund

When I first met my husband’s parents, I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their family. Kacey and Larry Opper are two of the most loving, generous, selfless, and Godly people that I have ever had the privilege of knowing. The ways they have personally given of themselves to me are countless. First of all, they welcomed me into their family with open arms from day one. Later on, when Oppie and I moved to North Carolina, they drove the moving truck all the way to Raleigh and helped us unpack AND did it all again two years later when we decided to move back home. Kacey deserves the lion’s share of credit for making our wedding day the most beautiful day of our lives, from the flowers, to the snacks on the limo bus, to the decorations, to the insanely extravagant dessert table of homemade confections! The Oppers always go above and beyond to help others - often putting others’ needs before their own. When my own late mother’s fate was uncertain in the hospital at this time last year, Kacey and Larry showed up to the hospital to support my family, bringing hugs, prayers, and bags upon bags of food to sustain my family as we held vigil.  During that time, Kacey also selflessly took it upon her shoulders to put together my baby shower while my mother was hospitalized, all while working full-time as a Catholic school teacher. Larry has spent countless hours driving to and from Norwalk to our home in Cleveland to help with various home repairs and projects, despite a jam-packed schedule filled with a full-time job, wedding photography/videography, and photographing for Norwalk St. Paul’s football team. Neither of them ever asks for anything in return. Ever. But those of you who know Kacey and Larry already know this.

I am starting this GoFundMe campaign because last month Kacey was hospitalized. First for shingles, then pneumonia, and then a silent heart attack. Kacey did not know she had experienced a heart attack and, prior to being hospitalized, continued to trudge herself to work everyday despite her condtition because that's just the type of hardworking person she is. Kacey was transported via ambulance from Bellevue Hospital to University Hospitals in Cleveland, where she has been for several weeks awaiting open heart surgery involving bypass, aneurysm reparation, and heart reconstruction. Larry, being the loving husband that he is, has been staying nights with Kacey in the hospital, often sleeping hand-in-hand with her in her hospital bed. Each day he then must make the hour and fifteen minute drive to Sandusky to work so that he can maintain the health insurance and income that they desperately need at this time. Unfortunately, despite having health insurance, the out-of-pocket bills for this lengthy hospital stay and major surgery are anticipated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars. I have set up this campaign in hopes that those who know Kacey and Larry might donate to help these two most selfless people through this difficult time and financial hardship. They are always helping everyone else, now it is their turn to receive the help of others. Any contribution you can make is appreciated more than you know. Thank you.
