Kacey's Fight Against Brain Tumor
Donation protected
Hi everyone.
Most of you know that Kacey and I recently had to make the difficult decision to put our dog, Moose down, but what most of you do not know is that Kacey has been battling a serious medical condition since the end of January. What started as a brain bleed while he was away for work in NOLA by himself, has turned into an absolutely devastating diagnosis of a noncurable brain cancer.
Since January, he has had an EVD placed in his brain to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid, two craniotomies, a shunt placed in his brain, has been in and out of the hospital more times than we can count, completed 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, has had 2 seizures and now two different types of strokes.
When he was officially diagnosed with his brain tumor in mid-February we were given the gloom prognosis of 5 months to 5 years. We are obviously praying everyday that he surpasses the 5 year mark and we are begging all of you to please pray for that as well with us.
Because of where his tumor is located, his speech, memory and emotions are greatly affected. Kacey has been having issues with aphasia (difficulty speaking and word recall) and memory for 4.5 months. There are some days that he doesn’t remember or know who I am, despite being married for nearly 15 years. At this point in time, Kacey is also experiencing mobility issues.
This year has kicked our butts in every way possible so far but we aren’t losing hope yet. Everyday I am truly inspired by Kaceys will to continue fighting for his life.
Caring for Kacey has become my full time job. As you can imagine, being out of work since January 26th, on top of everything going on has been costly. We have been fortunate enough to receive donations during Kaceys treatments but funds go quickly on one paycheck between bills, gas since his hospital with his specialists is two hours away, and any items insurance went cover for daily life and smaller medical things Kacey may need. We ask that if you are able, please consider making even a small monetary donation.
