Hello I am Jorge Rayo Jr. I'm a kid from Jersey City, having moved to Kissimmee FL in the last couple years. In May of 2021, I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in my left leg. Since then, I've gone through around 12 cycles of chemotherapy, which proved ineffective thus leading to the most unfortunate news in my young adult life. I had to amputate my leg above the knee in a last chance effort to remove the tumor from my body. Due to this, my senior year has been greatly altered for the worst.

My dream is to pursue a career in theatre and the arts, and despite being the president of my Theatre Troupe, I was deprived of the stage and couldn't perform in many of the things we did. I couldn't even help or contribute much, as being in a wheelchair has limits. However, in November, I had a chance to shine on the stage again in our Thespian One Act performance of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)," a comedy that I greatly enjoyed. We went on to overcome our districts, and go on to states, with a Critic's Choice Award in hand for our performance. The moment on stage where we were awarded for our hard work felt like pure bliss and like an enormous accomplishment, especially for me.

After months suffering in the hospital, barely sleeping at home, chemo sickness, and pains so excruciating I would pass out, I had overcome and proved that I was still what I always wanted to be.

However, going to states requires us to spend nearly $2,000 to go. I individually need to raise at least $300. Everyone who knows me knows I hate asking for much help. I try to be as independent as I can be. But I can't get much of a job since I'm still on outpatient 24/7 chemo. So I'm asking for help during this time. I have a strong feeling in this show and in our ability to go even beyond. Thank you to everyone for even reading, you all truly mean the world to me.
