Hi name is Brandy and I am fundraising for my mom Layna.

Early on Tuesday January 16 my mom found her husband Derek on the floor of the bathroom not breathing. She called emergency services and had to do CPR for him. Derek was in the hospital for a week and a half in a coma and on a breathing machine. My mom stayed by his side along with his family members. With many ups and downs in the hospital it was found out that Derek had suffered extensive brain damage from lack of oxygen called “widespread Anoxic brain injury.”

It was uncertain if he would be able to breathe on his own. Derek had his intubation removed on weds January 25 and he continued to breathe on his own for 15 hours before finally passing at 8:15 am on Thursday January 26.

My mom was with Derek for 10 years and as you can imagine is traumatized from losing her best friend unexpectedly.

Derek was the main income source for the home and did not have any savings/ is connected to a lot of payments/ debts. So along with this loss my mom is being faced with having to move from her home and give up her vehicle along with being solely responsible for substantial debt.

I am hoping to raise money to help cover the following costs:

If any of you know my mom, shes such a bright light and has the biggest heart. She’s completely devastated and I hope that I can help her by alleviating some of these costs and helping to get her somewhat set up with the basics as she makes her first steps forward on her own.
