Help Sybil's Family Give Her a Beautiful Farewell

This is my mommy, Sybil. Let me tell you just a little bit about her.

She is a wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, mother in love, sister, aunt, cousin, friend.

She loves Jesus.

She has more "adopted children" than most women do shoes, and thats how she loves it.

She has always taken care of everyone else, often sacrificing herself in the process.

Well, now she needs to help be taken care of.

In late July, mom went to her primary care doctor for her routine bloodwork and physical. Her liver enzymes came back elevated, so her doctor orders some more tests. Those tests showed she had a mass on her liver and multiple smaller spots on her liver and surrounding bones.

August 22nd we were sent to Duke Oncology. After lots of bloodwork, 3 MRIs, a CT and a liver biopsy, we were told on September 5th that mom has Stage 4 Metastatic ILC Breast Cancer.

We were referred out to Duke Women's and on September 11th we had her first appointment with the Breast Cancer Oncologist. He explained that her cancer was pretty progressed, but he was optimistic that we could fight it with a combo of injections and oral chemotherapy. He did stress that we needed to pray that her liver stayed strong enough to give the chemotherapy time to start working.

Dad and my sister took mom on September 16th for her first injections and she started the oral chemotherapy on September 20th.

Wednesday September 24th, I was walked over to visit mom and noticed her coloring was off, she was a little jaundice looking. I texted Vicki and sent her pictures and she reached out to moms Oncology team. They got us in right away to see her on Thursday September 25th.

Unfortunately, the Doctor confirmed what we all feared. Mom is in liver failure. After talking with the doctor about all of the options, we as a family decided the best thing for mom was to stop all treatments and to call in hospice to help keep her comfortable. Her Oncologist Dr. P, said we were probably looking at weeks left earthside with mom.

Even though we all expected the bad news, shock and utter devastation is an understatement.

We are all just focusing on mom right now, trying to spend the time with her we can. Keep her happy and comfortable.

That's why I am making this page. Mom doesn't have life insurance. We dont know how we are going to be able to give her the funeral she deserves. Not only that but mom wants to see the beach one more time, and we are going to make that happen, as a family.

We know that not everyone is in a position to give financially, and thats ok, but if nothing else, will you pray. Pray for mom during this journey. Pray for daddy, because he is NOT ok. Pray for the kids and grandkids, we are lost. Pray for everyone that loves her, our hearts are breaking and soon there will be a hole that no one this side of heaven can fill.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this.
