Epilepsy awareness

On the 10th of May I will be doing the Nuclear Race for Epilepsy Society. Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects 1 in 100 people in the UK. Here's a bit of my story, I was diagnosed with idiopathic generalised epilepsy at the age of 8 years old when I lived in Cyprus. I was seizure free for 3.5 years up until last year June that's when I had 5 seizures in a space of 2 months this was the first time in my life that has happened and all my seizures are in my sleep.

After that I was referred to Chalfont Buckinghamshire where I was looked after by the charity Epilepsy Society and thanks to them I have had all the tests carried out and it has now been determined that I have focal epilepsy.

This fundraising is crucial for the Epilepsy Society as it allows the organisation to continue its mission of supporting individuals with epilepsy and their families. The funds raised help in various ways, including:
• Research: Funding research projects aimed at finding better treatments, understanding the causes of epilepsy, and ultimately working towards a cure.
• Support Services: Providing essential services such as counseling, support groups, and educational resources to help individuals and families cope with epilepsy.
• Advocacy: Raising awareness about epilepsy and advocating for policies that improve the quality of life for those affected.
• Community Programs: Developing programs that promote inclusion, participation, and overall well-being for people living with epilepsy.
