Gaby is a woman who has spent her life caring for others-both as a devoted single mother of four and in her work as a nanny (which is how I had the privelege of meeting her). She works multiple jobs to provide for her family and does so with a smile on her face and genuine gratitude for the opportunity just to work.

Gaby has already battled and beat cancer twice, most recently in 2021. Shortly after she began working with our family, she received devastating news that her cancer has returned. Her doctors are hopeful that they will be able to surgically remove all of the cancer cells from her intestines and gullbladder without requiring her to go through chemo and/or radiation again, however they have warned her that cancer in this area can spread quickly and they won't have a full picture until they operate on her the week after Thanksgiving.

Even the best case scenario will require Gaby take at least 2 months off of work to recover. While most of us reading this can probably not imagine anything more stressful than being diagnosed with cancer for the third time, the financial implications of losing much of her income are weighing on her even more.

There is a very real threat of Gaby and her family being forced out of their home in the midst of her recovery and during the holidays. My goal with this GoFundMe is to raise enough money so that Gaby's rent and basic expenses can be covered while she focuses on the most important thing- her health and recovery.
