Real Chronicles of Elyria "Duchy" for Wessex!
The Duchy of Wessex is a strategy/pvp mmorpg gaming clan that has been in existence nearly 20 years.
We have had enormous successes in Shadowbane, Mortal Online, Life is Feudal, and especially 2009's Darkfall, where we led the Kingdom of Hyperion and took half the world map. We have been interviewed by MMORPG.com and have appeared in numerous podcasts, webcasts, and gaming magazines.
However, with the approach and impending release of the next great game of this genre, "Chronicles of Elyria ", we missed an opportunity to acquire one of the game's Kickstarter packages, which were sold to entities who would be allowed to constitute the ACTUAL landed territorially established duchies in the game. We are still the Duchy of Wessex as we always have been, but because we came late, we are not slated to be recognized by the game as a true duchy - at least, not without a lot of crossed fingers to attain a duchy after the release of the game. Pinning our hopes on this is not guaranteed, however, and in any case rather puts us in a diminished position with respect to our legacy and accomplishments.
The good news, though, is that Soulbound Studios, the game's creator, has elected to put the duchy packages on sale one last time before all territories are assigned to teams on the game's continental map. Through collaboration on design and planning, our leader has been welcomed into an existing kingdom in the game, Valyria, purely on merit and on our legacy, and we have been reserved land within that kingdom's borders as a duchy. Now we just need to be able to buy the recognition of our duchy from the game itself to take full advantage of this, and to be able to start the game with our duchy's roads and buildings built and developed as we would like - as other duchies will be, including those of our enemies. By having our own duchy before the game's release, our duchy name will appear on maps, we will be able to spend our acquired "exposition points" on parts of the duchy outside of our individually occupied counties, and we will be able to make sure that we do not need to contend with someone else who may have moved into our reserved land in Valyria.
Unlike other games in this genre, Chronicles of Elyria is planned to continue for ten real life years. It boasts new developments like the aging and death of characters and the ability to spawn heirs, giving real meaning to marriage and dynastic legacy. It is more important than ever that we begin a game like this with as much advantage as possible. Wessex has been around for 20 years, but no game has ever matched its design and vision as much as Chronicles of Elyria does.
If there ever was a time to support Wessex, it's now!
The duchy package costs $5000, but $1000 of it has been provided by our benefactor kingdom, the Kingdom of Valyria. Our own duke, Manus Dei, will be able to put forward as much as $2000 more. That means we only need at minimum $2000 before the packages are removed from the Chronicles of Elyria game store for good on December 30th. Any funds we raise beyond that will go toward the purchase of exposition points to improve the duchy by roads, cathedrals, hospitals, schools, etc during the game's beta.
