Build a Memorial for Sunnyvale DPS Officer K9-Jax

K9 Jax's Story:
On October 31, 2017, K-9 officer, Jax died during a confrontation with a suspect engaged in domestic violence. When the suspect would not surrender peacefully, Jax was sent to subdue and apprehend him but was stabbed by the suspect. Jax was rushed to an animal hospital and passed away that evening at the age of four.  Jax had served for two years in Sunnyvale and had 26 arrests to his credit.

About Me:
I am a Life Scout from Troop 443 in Sunnyvale, CA. Last year, I attended the City of Sunnyvale’s Summer Youth Leadership Academy which was created with the intent of connecting law enforcement with the youth in the community. During my training at the academy, I learned about the various divisions within the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which all have the same goal: to protect and serve their people. K9 Jax was one such brave member of the Sunnyvale DPS who placed himself in danger to protect our officers and our community. He made the ultimate sacrifice.

Why:
As my Eagle Scout Service Project, I am looking to gain your support to build a memorial dedicated to Jax and to honor the past and current working K9s of the City of Sunnyvale.  A permanent memorial will not only help us pay tribute to the selfless courage, and heroism of these loyal K9 officers, but will also help us spread the message of non violence in our communities. I appreciate all that you can do to assist me in funding this memorial.  I am available at any time to answer any questions you may have.

Thank You,
