Josh's cancer has returned. Testing started in July where they learned he has new growths that were found to be cancerous. Josh will be driving to St. Louis to receive treatments at Siteman cancer center, he will go down once every 3 weeks to receive full days worth of chemotherapy treatments as his cancer has spread and is aggressive. This is a rare cancer with limited research although his oncologist is optimistic and honest.
Unfortunately his cancer is not curable, however the team is working to get ahead and make it manageable to provide longevity for Josh and his family.
The girls have grown and just started their new school year with Hadley being in 3rd grade and will be cheering for football, Kennady in 1st grade, just starting soccer and Emerysn being 2 1/2 and keeping everyone on their toes!
Monetary donations will assist with travel expenses to treatments, medical bills/expenses, and assistance with the loss of Josh's income.
This time the physical affects are most noticeable as the tumors are in his back, shoulder, and hip area while other nodules are popping up.
The Hedges family is calling on all prayer warriors to provide peace, guidance to the physicians, and ultimately knowing God is the best physician. Also for the girls as they are navigating starting their new school year and Danielle as they get back into the school year schedule.
Welcome to the Hedges story, thank you for any support you're able to offer whether it be monetarily or prayers.
Josh who is a father of 3 young girls was diagnosed with Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (Salivary Gland Cancer) in October 2022, in December he underwent a lengthy surgery which included a full neck dissection to remove all the lymph nodes on the right side of his face/neck. The surgery also included the removal of the salivary gland and the scraping of the tumor of the facial nerve. One of the many side effects of the surgery is facial droop due to the impact of the surgery removing the tumor from the facial nerve.
Josh then started radiation and chemotherapy in January 23, due to the aggressive nature of the type of cancer which he has suffered from many side effects.
This is the beginning of their family’s journey that will continue for another 10-12 weeks at minimum; due to the radiation burn and overwhelming physical sickness and side effects, Josh has been unable to work. In today's world, we can all feel the economic and emotional toll this could take on a family of five. Mindy and I wanted to set this up in the hopes of being able to help alleviate just one stressor on their family.
The Hedges Family includes Josh, Danielle, Hadley (6), Kennady (4), Emmy (1) and three fur babies. The girls are still trying to be as active as possible and continue their normal routine.
Your donation to this beautiful family would go directly towards helping with bills including groceries, gas, insurance, and medical bills that are currently being paid on one income. The beginning of this journey has already led to medical bills coming in at thousands of dollars.
Their family is already beyond grateful for all the positive words and additional support from friends and family.
Thank you!
