Welcome everyone to this special fundraiser for Katelyn Davis. I would like to share with you the heartfelt testimonies from three families about why we feel Katelyn is so deserving of our help and contributions to the finances required for a service dog and the related cost that are so extensive. The travel, lodging, in depth training and the year-long process the organiztion goes through to make sure these dogs are perfectly fitted for the needs of their wonderful owners!
LARRY & MELISSA PIERCE
We have known the Davis family for approximately 15 years and have become good friends.  In fact, Melissa Davis is part of a new ministry we began just this year.  They are a good family, with big hearts and deeply faithful to their friends, family and church.  Kevin has served in the US military, suffering irreparable injuries during combat, which limit his ability to provide for his family.  Katelyn suffers from debilitating seizures which cause her to become immobile and can be life threatening.  She is in desperate need of funding to help with the costs associated with this service dog.  This will provide a level of support and confidence for her that would be life altering.  This is a great family that has served other people for years.  It is time for us to give back in this effort.  Please consider a donation to this well-deserving young girl.

MIKE & JOHNNIE MORMAN
My name is Johnnie Morman. I am sharing this story on behalf of a lovely young lady, Katelyn Davis, and why she is so deserving of our help.
Katelyn’s medical issues include Petit Mal (absence) seizures, Grand Mal seizures, and Type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed with the Petit Mal seizures in 4th grade and experiences up to 30 small episodes daily. Even with her medication it does not help with keeping the larger episodes (Grand Mal) from reoccurring.  These can be quite scary and are the primary reason Katelyn needs our help in receiving the privilege of experiencing the gift of a service dog. It would be life changing for Katelyn and her family.
My husband, Mike, and I have known Katelyn all of her life. She is the youngest of five children and is currently a sophomore student at Deer Park High School.  Most importantly, she is a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church Pasadena Texas. Katelyn’s personality is best described as out-going, friendly, fun-loving, kind and always willing to help others in need. Katelyn’s first love is her faith in God, family and theatre. She has performed in many plays. Recently, Katelyn was part of the UIL One-Act Play State Championships for Deer Park High School.
Because of the extent of her health problems the independence she longs to have is becoming more difficult. The Service dog would be able to  assist her and help in case of injury during and after a seizure or diabetic episode.
Eventually, the dog would allow Katelyn to live on her own. This is very important, as she would like to live independently. It would also give her a greater sense of normalcy to her daily life. Having this extraordinary animal would open up new possibilities for Katelyn to be able do more things self-reliantly.
It is our prayer and hope for the future of this beautiful young lady that you will join us in making her dream for a Service Dog come true!

SARAH KOUBA
I am writing you today on behalf of Katelyn Davis, I have had the extreme privilege of knowing Katelyn since she showed up in my Theatre Arts class as a bright eyed 6th grade girl. I was her Theatre teacher for 3 years, and currently serve as Katelyn’s mentor. Due to the nature of the Theatre Arts class, I was able to work closely with Katelyn on over 10 different productions, and I can say with confidence that she is, without a doubt, one of the most responsible students I’ve ever taught. If Katelyn wasn’t assigned to keep everyone in line backstage as the Stage Manager, she was shining on stage as a principal part in productions. That’s what’s so extraordinary about Katelyn. She is versatile and willing to do anything. She’s a leader but not overbearing. She’s talented without being cocky. She loves to build those around her up. While other students may find unimportant things to “whine” about, Katelyn never makes excuses. One morning in 2015, a few days before our spring musical was set to open, Katelyn suffered a seizure. She fell face-first onto the hearth of the fireplace and bruised her eye. I will never forget the first thing she said to me after the incident. “Don’t worry, I found makeup to cover it all up!” All Katelyn was worried about was making sure she was ready to perform. She never complained, she didn’t want to “let anyone down.” This is the Katelyn I know. She is resilient. She is a fighter. She is strong and persistent. She has a heart of gold and anyone who has ever met her knows this very well. I think Katelyn is the perfect candidate for a service dog. You would be hard pressed to find anyone more loving and deserving than Katelyn Davis. Warmest Regards, Sarah Kouba
