K-9 Strong: Protecting those that protect us

On Christmas Eve, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office set up an operation at the Mall at Wellington Green to arrest suspects from an earlier shooting . As deputies approached the suspects, one fled and was pursued by K-9 Cigo. The suspect turned and began shooting, striking Cigo. The 3-year-old German shepherd was rushed to a veterinary emergency center but died later that night. The story of Cigo really touched the hearts of all of us here at Powerhouse Gym Stuart, and we wanted to help prevent these tragedies from happening in the future.

On Saturday, February 23rd from 9 am - 1 pm, Powerhouse Gym Stuart will be hosting "K-9 Strong: Protecting Those That Protect Us" to raise money for a donation to the Palm Beach Sheriff's Foundation in memory of K-9 Cigo and purchase ballistic vests for the Martin County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit. This GoFundMe has been established so that those who wish to help but can't make the event can still contribute to the cause. 

Any funds beyond those necessary to put vests on all 5 MCSO K-9s and make a donation to the PBSF in Cigo's memory will be used towards purchasing additional vests for other K-9 units in need. Please donate today and help us protect the guardians of the night!
