Shaka is an almost 4 year old German Shepard trained in narcotic detection. She has been
working with my partner for three years and
has recently been diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. We may never know what started it but she is locked in battle
against her own immune system. While pretty touch and go at first, She has managed to
stable out with the help of multiple vets, medications, and blood transfusions. Shaka’s future is still unknown and should we get there it will be a long road to recovery.
We have just started slowly getting off medications but this process will take several months Insurance has denied the claims and the
agency funds have been maxed out.
We hope to postpone a medical retirement
and have the chance to come back to what we love doing by relieving the financial stress
from the agency.
If retirement should come, we hope with
peoples help we can afford to cover her
medications and lab tests. Regression and relapse are likely with this disorder as well as a shortened life span, and this is something I
cannot afford on my own.
I want my friend to have every opportunity to
live and enjoy the life she deserves.
