Help K9 Loki stay with his family

My husband, Josh, has been a police officer for 15 years, 11 of those with Broken Arrow Police Department. For the last 4 years he has had the pleasure of serving the community alongside his K9 partner, Loki.

Recently, Josh and I made a decision to pursue another law enforcement opportunity outside of BAPD. This was a difficult decision but ultimately affords Josh more diverse work experiences and even more importantly, nights, weekends and holidays at home with me and our 3 children. Crime never sleeps as you know and patrol officers are needed 24/7.

While we realized this meant Josh would no longer go to work with Loki every day, we hoped that based on precedent, the police department would retire Loki and allow him to continue living his life with his family. We knew that we may even need to pay the city in order to retire him to us, unfortunately we could never have anticipated the dollar amount we were given to make this happen, which is what has led us to reach out to our friends, family and community for help.

What you may not realize about Police K9’s is that they live with their handler, in this case, with our family for the last 4 years. He is bonded to not only Josh but our entire family. We are so fortunate that while Loki is all business on duty, he is incredibly loving and playful with our kids at home.

We truly love him so much and know that he loves us right back! Our heart breaks at the thought of not be able to bring him home with us, and more so at the thought of him not knowing where his family has gone and feeling abandoned.

Our goal is $5600, this is what the city is asking for in compensation for Loki’s retirement, this is not a feasible amount for us, and as I mentioned is far beyond what our expectations were. Everything raised will go towards bringing Loki home forever.
