K9 Grass for the Lighthouse Animal Shelter Dogs

Having a happy environment for our adoptable animals that is also healthy is one of our top priorities. We've looked into other options but having artificial grass for our play yard is the one that makes the most sense for our dogs, volunteers, and visitors.

Years ago we had natural grass at our shelter! With thousands of happy dogs running in circles, that quickly turned into sand. With our New England weather, that sand quickly turns into mud. With heavy rain, the giant mud puddle at one end of our yard lingers for days. While our dogs do love playing and digging in the dirt & mud, K9 Grass/Turf will provide them with a clean, safe, and comfortable surface to play and relax on.

What our dogs will soon find out is that if we spend less time cleaning our floors, kennels, etc. of dust and dirt and less time cleaning each dog as they come in after a party in the mud puddle, we'll have more time to dote on our pups on our new K9 Grass lawn!

The quote for our backyard is $31,750. This is going to be a huge hit on our finances but it's one that we truly believe is the right choice for our current dogs and the hundreds of dogs we rescue from euthanasia in the future.

This is something we have contemplated doing for years and we're finally taking the plunge with the health and happiness of our dogs in mind. Please consider helping us provide our dogs with a better outdoor experience.

Lighthouse Animal Shelter focuses its efforts on helping homeless animals. All animals in our care receive full vetting: spay/neuter, vaccines, testing & parasite control. We offer information and referral services to assist the community with concerns relating to their own or stray companion animals.
