Change Keith’s Life with a Service Dog

Donation protected
My friend Keith needs a positive today as he endures the first anniversary of his child Grayson’s suicide.  The best news Keith could hear is that he’ll soon have the service dog he can’t afford but needs, thanks to caring souls who know the immeasurable value of a service dog.

Please help to make this possible by bumping this fund closer to the $5,000 goal needed for his dog’s downpayment.

I want to see my friend be his former self, as best as that is possible, thanks to a service dog at his side.  I want to see him get out there and enjoy his life with Grayson joining him in spirit.

Keith’s grief after losing his son last year is understandably severe.  What isn’t understandable, is that life has continued to deliver devastating blows to Keith ever since.  Keith is suffering in ways I would never detail to the masses, because that’s not my place to do. What I will share is what’s important to Keith for all parents to do:

Be vigilant in this smartphone/screen society that influences our children daily, because it exposes them all to the potential to hurt themselves.  On February 8, 2018, Grayson committed suicide during his first year away at college and just six days after turning 19 years old.  Grayson was an awesome kid, a remarkable violinist and the guy who could always make you laugh til it hurt.  Simply put, you were fortunate to have known him and painfully shocked and devastated to have lost him to suicide.

Any donations we are fortunate to receive beyond the $5,000 goal will be used solely to cover the $15,000 total cost of Keith’s service dog, as well as the expenses that accompany dog ownership, of which there are many during the first year.

Please allow yourself to gain perspective from Keith’s grief and go make a memory today with a loved one.

Because I have fielded this question from donors, I’ll hopefully spare others from having to ask for this information:  A person cannot qualify for a service dog without specific documentation from medical professionals.  Keith’s qualification for a service dog means his unique needs cannot be met with a rescue, emotional support or companion dog.  These types of dogs and pets can be so helpful to many, but they do not receive the critical service skill training that is individualized and very different from generic training.  They also lack the legal rights that certified service animals have, which permit them to remain at the side of those who need them, wherever they go.  Keith has been approved for his service dog by Healing Hounds Service Dogs (link below).

Here is Keith and Grayson.

Here is Keith with his daughter, whom he adores beyond words.
