Introducing K9 Defense Fund

What began as one simple hope—to protect three local K9s—turned into something that I never could’ve imagined.

Thanks to an overwhelming amount of support, Vesting Oakland County Area K9’s Fundraiser was able to provide six K9 officers—K9 Raiden, K9 Knox, K9 Ace, K9 Fuze, K9 Asher, and one other local K9—with K9 Storm ballistic vests. Making the calls to those handlers, knowing their partners would finally receive the protection they deserve, are moments I'll carry with me forever.

K9 Defense Fund—a Michigan-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) established in honor of every K9 who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty—is committed to equipping K9 units across Michigan and neighboring agencies with ballistic vests and essential gear to help protect those who protect us.

Every K9 team faces real dangers in the line of duty, and the reality is that many departments simply don’t have the funding for the gear their dogs need. That’s where K9 Defense Fund steps in. Our mission is to bridge that gap—one vest, one handler, one dog at a time. Beyond vests, we will also help provide essential equipment like emergency vehicle heat alarms, transport crates, and other tools that keep our four-legged officers out of harm's way.

This mission wouldn’t be possible without you. Whether you donate, share our posts, or simply cheer us on, you are making a difference. If you’d like to continue supporting K9 Defense Fund, here’s how:
