I received some somber news recently that my 5-year-old black labrador retriever, Remy, has cancer. As of now, the cancer seems to be benign however, further testing is needed, and we will know more by next week (the beginning of April 2021). In the most hopeful of conditions, his recovery will be arduous due to the location of the tumor. His treatment path is currently being explored and may include surgery and chemotherapy. Currently, his prognosis is not terminal however, it is likely that his mobility may be permanently limited.
I’ve had Remy since he was 9 weeks old and during the last 5 years we’ve built an incredible bond. We’ve been fortunate enough to spend almost every incredible moment together, from winter camping the BWCAW in Northern Minnesota to world class hunting of Southern Saskatchewan. Remy has had an incredible life full of adventure and his kindhearted joyous demeanor reflects it. As a new chapter in our journey begins it seems these medical adventures will be the hardest we’ve faced. It is well known that my love for Remy would move mountains but, my love can only go so far when the mountains are debt. My meager funds from being student has left me with the inability to afford such endeavors. As of now, with the most hopeful of medical paths the cost will be around $2,000 this includes testing, surgery, and treatment. This sum is meager in comparison to what Remy’s wellbeing means to me however, with humbling means this price seems impossible. So, I ask you to please donate to help Remy recover. Your money will go directly to helping Remy get back to his usual happy-go-lucky self, living life to the fullest extent. We greatly appreciate your consideration. In these challenging times it is wonderful to feel the support of loved ones and even more so from the generosity of acquaintances.
