Help Jocelynn tame her cancer & realise her dreams

Hi, my name is Caroline, and this beautiful lady, Jocelynn (Tala) is a very dear friend of mine.

A few years ago, Jocelynn fought a hard battle with breast cancer. And it seemed that all the pain and setbacks had paid off.

Sadly, this year, she had had some complications with a cough, and her voice, and eventually, scans showed the cancer was back. And this time, it had travelled to other parts of her body, including her brain.

Jocelynn has been told that the cancer is incurable. Devastating news for her, her friends and her family. She's only just celebrated her 40th birthday. On the positive side, she has been told that it can be managed with treatments. Just last week she had Gamma Knife radiotherapy to 12 sites in her brain. It was pretty uncomfortable.

She is an amazing, brave and determined young lady. And she still has so many goals to acheive. So she is going to fight this beast hard.

Unfortunately, that fight comes at a cost. While a lot of the treatment is funded, the "gap" payments are starting to bite and while she can't work at the moment, her savings are being rapidly depleted. So far, she's spent $45K on this battle. She has enough things to be scared and worried about, the last thing she needs to worry about is whether or not she can afford the treatments to help extend her life.

Medical oncology specialists have advised there is a new trial drug that’s showing promising results for the type of breast cancer faced by Jocelynn, these trials however are run in Sydney via Macquarie University Hospital. The treatment and interventions entail weekly visits to Macquarie Hospital 1 day a week 3 weeks of the month.

This is likely for the duration of 2-3 years depending on the success of the interventions.

Each trip is around $200-$400. That's around $7K to $14K per year

Medication and Specialists consultations are not fully subsidised, and it’s estimated that 3 months of medication and consultations will cost $5k - or $20,00 per year.

It's a lot for her to find, especially when she's not able to work. That's why I've helped her put this GoFundMe together. In the hope that the friends, family and community that love Jocelynn, and that have been blessed by her love, generousity and beautiful spirit, can contribute a little. It's one less thing for her to spend her energy or focus on. Instead, she can focus on living the best life she can.
