Hi, my name is Melissa and I am Brian's wife. About 3 weeks into our marriage, Brian was placed in the hospital from internal bleeding. This was a result of hypertension brought on by a failing liver. A few days later we discovered that he would be needing a new liver. This process has been a physical (for Brian) and emotional rollercoaster for our newly blended family of 5 beautiful children.

Brian has a failing liver due to cirrhosis. He received a blood transfusion following being hit by a car when he was 8 years old. That blood was contaminated with Hep C. It destroyed his liver and caused the cirrhosis.  The Hep C was cured about 8 years ago.

Brian is one of the kindest and most loving people I know. When others judge, he chooses not to. He is my best friend. I am hopeful that you might be able to help, as we will be incurring many expenses that are related to transplant. His liver transplant requires many trips down to Salt Lake City where his transplant team is located. This requires gas to make the trip, lodging (when necessary), and food while there. When the actual transplant take place, we will be in Salt Lake City for up to 3 months.  There are also ongoing doctors and pharmaceutical fees. Please help us to make sure Brian is able to get the care he needs!
