A helping hand for Melissa
Beschermde donatie
Almost two years ago, I created a campaign for Melissa when she was in the hospital in an induced coma after coding with cardiac arrest. Things were completely dire, and those of us closest to her feared that she wouldn't make it. I pled with you then, and your generous donations and kind thoughts made a world of difference when Melissa beat the odds and pulled through after 17 days in the hospital. The outpouring was a much-needed blessing.
After recovering completely, she took on sobriety, completely embracing recovery and devoting her life to helping others and bringing awareness to addiction.
Melissa has an indomitable spirit, but sometimes life and health conspire to throw a big ole monkey wrench into the mix, and today, I appeal to you all for help again.
This spring, Melissa was admitted for emergency surgery to remove her Gallbladder, and in the process of X-raying her, a tumor was discovered on her kidney. After imaging, it was determined that there is a 90% likelihood that it is a cancerous growth, and it will need to be removed, taking part or all of that kidney with it in the process. Her surgery is set for June 10th, which is also her son Sage's 16th Birthday, with her son Ronin's 7th Birthday the day before.
While the prognosis is likely good, Melissa is in-between residences and a single mother during a pandemic. Even before this current medical crisis, the Covid-19 quarantine hit her hard, creating an avalanche of bills that she's still struggling with and it's made working and childcare nearly impossible to manage. Between moving to new housing, care for a special needs child, recovery from major surgery, possible further cancer treatment, and medical expenses, she could really use a helping hand.
Melissa is a positive, bright woman and, as we all know, a fierce caretaker and devoted mother. She has had an uphill battle in recent years with the coma, recovery, and loss of job opportunities with the pandemic. My hope is that in her time of need, we can take care of her. Any amount helps, and prayers, good vibes, and thoughts are so very appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Belle
