On January 1, a dear friend and resident of Moorpark, Mr. JR Rolly's home caught on fire and he lost everything. You are probably wondering who this man is. Well, if you live here in Moorpark, I'm sure you have seen him riding his bike around town. He is the older gentleman who had the flag on the back of his bike. He is the man who made others envious of his strength and endurance because he could ride his bike up and down Spring Road. JR is such a giving and caring individual. He came into my sister's life 10 years ago when she was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. He was always there to cheer her up; whether it was writing her a clever, heartwarming, cheerful poem, sending her stickers and a little token, or just stopping by our home on his way to the post office to share a friendly smile, and personal " hello." Over the years, this man has grown to be part of our family.
Now it is our turn to reach out and do what we can to bring comfort, warmth, and a smile on his face. Whatever you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Since he is currently living in a motel we are hoping to collect donations to purchase giftcards to local stores/restaurants for food and personal items. Please help this amazing individual out by donating. All of his money, clothes, his bike, beautiful poems, food, tokens, photos, and much more were lost in the fire. As a community, we would hope that we can come together and help Mr. JR Rolly rise from the ashes and continue to ride his bike around our beautiful city. Thank you!
