Maxine's Story
On Friday, May, 26,2017, Maxine Slabine suffered a stroke while working at Stoughton High School. Fortunately, a faculty member sought help immediately. Maxine has been receiving neurological care and, due to the severity, will require ongoing rehabilitation services.
Who is Maxine?
Maxine is a long-time resident of Stoughton and employee of Stoughton Public Schools. She is a mother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many. Most recently, Maxine has worked as an educational assistant in the Emotional Support Program at Stoughton High School. Maxine's presence within the high school has been one of comfort and kindness towards both faculty and students. She has offered unconditional support and security for students in the Emotional Support Program and throughout the school.
Why we need your help.
Maxine's role as an educational assistant does not offer benefits which would cover an extended medical leave.
It is unknown when Maxine will be able to return to work. She resides alone and her only son, Marcus, and his fiance, Elizabeth, reside out of state. Currently, Marcus and Elizabeth are Maxine's only means of financial support.
What can you do?
During this time, we are hoping that friends, family, and community members are able to assist in easing Maxine's financial burden through donations of any amount. Maxine has spent the majority of her life helping others and is now in need of our assistance.
