This is my friend Ty Brewster. He texted me a few weeks ago, thrilled to announce he finally got his gender marker and name changed on his license.

I met him at the bar where I worked. He’d bring me snacks, and we’d talk. He said he was saving up for top surgery. I told him he should do one of these and he looked at me like I was nuts. It’s taken until now to convince him to let me. I can tell you a lot about him—he’s a student in Austin, he’s always got that smile ready, he loves dogs and bad TV, he shows up to help  you move. But the important thing is, he’s a trans dude who needs surgery to feel whole. So I’m giving this a shot. 

The money will be used for surgery, meds, travel to and from Plano, recovery, and all related expenses. He’ll donate anything he doesn’t use to Out Youth in Austin.
