My name is Chantelle and I am fundraising from London to support my family who have lost their whole home due to Hurricane Melissa. Hurricane Melissa was a terrible Hurricane that tore their beloved home that stood strong for 23 years. Hurricane Melissa has now made it unsafe to live in. What was once a home to 8 family members in Westmoreland/ Belvedere is now 3 walls and a floor that is deemed unstable and not strong enough to build on. They will need to knock down the whole structure and start again. They tried to save as much as they could but unfortunately most of their furniture is broken and water damaged.. Due to the damage around their area they will be out of work and unable to make a living to build up again. They have not only lost their home but also their family living. They lost acres of farming. Waking up to damaged Pineapple fields, breadfruit trees, coconut trees and family of Goats and chickens has made it a terrible loss and one that will take time to build up again. Let’s work together and help them build up again. No family deserves to lose everything they have worked hard for. Every little help counts and will help build their home up again. Money will be used to buy cement, blocks, timber, corrugated steel, timber and furniture. We look forward to sharing the progress as they build up again. Any extra funds will be given to local families also having to build up a stronger home and provide them the basic essentials they need to survive.
