Gina vs. Bob the Brain Tumor
Donation protected
This fall our crazy, fun, loveable friend Gina was introduced to her nemesis, Bob. Bob is the unfriendly tumor that had taken up residence in Gina's brain without consent approximately 8 years ago. At first he was quiet, but over the years he got bored of going unnoticed and began making his presence known. His success in gaining her attention came in late 2014. Now doctors and Gina are preparing to give Bob a swift kick to the curb via a lengthy (think workday length) eviction surgery.
At this time it is believed (fingers crossed and prayers said) that Bob is one of those benign little nusinsaces that are a pain to extract but don't spread their gloomy, cancerous ways to further places. BUT Bob could still unveil himself to be a Super Villain, rather than just a big old pain in the arse. Until Bob is seen out in the open, his true identity and intentions will remain unclear.
If you don't know Gina well (or at all, as we hope this reaches others outside of our immediate circle) then this explanation of the situation may seem odd or perhaps insensitive. However, we couldn't think of a better way to explain the situation and at the same time keep it true to the amazing, humourous way that Gina has dealt with the curve ball life has thrown her. The comidic, goofy, funloving Gina has not let something like a nemesis dull her sparkle. While real life worries and events are unfolding in front of her, she is taking them in stride and fighting them off with her humor and unforgettable laugh.
All of this nemisis fighting involves weeks off work for the fight and recovery. And as we all know, expert advice doesn't come cheap (we work for attorneys and I know they don't offer free advice.....I can't imagine what neurosurgeons charge for their expertise). There are travel costs to appointments and small items that add up fast. Plus all of this is going on at the same time that day to day life costs still have to be covered.
Which brings us to you. We know that each of her friends, family, coworkers, even random people with big hearts, wish they could take this away and make it all better. While we can't do that, we can help to alleviate some of the financial stress and burden. Let's join together and give her one less thing to worry about so that Gina can focus on healing.
