hey y’all, this is really difficult for me to write and unlike me to do but it’s been a hell of a month for me and I wouldn’t be doing it unless I absolutely needed too..
Today I got hit with a $12,450 rent bill from our management company that took me by surprise. Since COVID hit we were told we could pay only what we could give until further notice not thinking the remaining balance would be accrued.
Back in April, I got sick from COVID around the same time our roommate decided they weren’t coming back to the apartment. We didn’t feel comfortable with the possibility of exposing another person to COVID and also didn’t feel comfortable having a stranger in the house, so we didn’t find someone to fill the room.
In June, I was scheduled to return to work but couldn’t due to a fractured ankle and was disabled until mid August. Having used remaining funds for doctors appts, meds, and other medical bills money is really tight for me.
The part that really sucks is that this apartment is under my name, so if I don’t pay up half of it by the end of November I’ll lose my housing (which I have lived in for 6 years and ultimately love so much) and I’ll ruin my chances of ever buying a home like I’ve been planning on doing. I’ve recently been back at work but this debt wasn’t in my plans, at all.
They’re giving me until the end of November to pay half of it off.
