Elizabeth is a former theatre associate of mine. In addition to working full time, she cares for her father who lives with her. While numerous people have suffered and died in the last few years, Elizabeth is one who is thankful to be alive,

A breast cancer survivor, the chemo has affected her heart, and she now has heart failure to contend with. The months of April, May, June and through July 10th, Elizabeth was unable to work because of severe gall bladder disease, with in excess of fifty stones. Due to delays in testing & results, Elizabeth’s condition worsened, and by the time she received her echo, her heart rate was at 15%. Thus, the date for her gall bladder surgery was immediately scheduled. If next echo is not good, she will need a pacemaker. It has taken a while for her to recover from her recent surgery. But, as soon as she could, she went back to work, So, this strong forty-seven year old, has had quite the health challenges.

Yes, Elizabeth has a good job and health insurance, but still, she owes in excess of $100,000 in medical expenses, Additionally, 2 weeks ago her car engine blew up, resulting in the need to buy another used vehicle, that she couldn’t afford, but due to her job, it was a necessity.

Add to all the above, the fact that, while so ill, her landlord told her that she would have to move out, as her lease expired the end of June. While talking to her landlord, Elizabeth was assured that she would work with her, but immediately had her served with an eviction notice. This has almost pushed Elizabeth over the edge. Elizabeth is deeply hurt that her landlord would be so very untruthful and show no empathy.

I initially mentioned that Elizabeth and I are theatre associates. As is true for me, theatre is not a hobby for Elizabeth, rather a “calling.” Elizabeth is an exceptionally dedicated actor. With that said, after all Elizabeth has been through, at this particular time, she desperately needs the support of her theatre family. Sadly, due to 2 missed rehearsals, one due to sickness, and the other due to her car problem, she was replaced in the show, even though she notified the directors of her valid reasons for the two missed rehearsals. This, my friends, devastated Elizabeth, as she never needed the camaraderie, support, and positive validation more than at this time.

Initially, Elizabeth was hesitant to agree to this fundraiser. However, this talented, humorous, and hard working lady needs our prayers and our gifts. Please contribute what you can to lift some pressure from Elizabeth’s shoulders. It truly warms my heart to think that a concerted effort may very well bring some much needed relief to Elizabeth.
