Melanie is a devoted mother of four, a stroke survivor, and one of the strongest women I know. Melanie has four beautiful daughters. After the birth of her third child, she suffered a stroke caused by postpartum preeclampsia—a terrifying, life-threatening complication. Her recovery was long and painful, but she persevered. Her youngest daughter, born after that experience, became a symbol of hope and completion for their family. After 18.5 years of marriage, she’s facing an incredibly difficult chapter — one filled with loss, legal battles, and the challenge of rebuilding her life from the ground up.

Over the years, Melanie has endured what she describes as extreme emotional and financial control within her marriage. She experienced long periods without access to money and limited ability to care for herself in the home she shared with her then-husband. Following the recent death of her father, an attempt to inform her children of the loss led to a deeply painful and escalated encounter. This has distanced her from her children — a result of circumstances and influence that have strained their relationship.

Recently, Melanie lost the home she lived in for years, causing her to move far away from her children. She is currently living with her elderly mother, who will be selling her home soon — and Melanie has nowhere else to turn. She’s not someone who would ever ask for help lightly, which is why I’m asking for her.
