Help luke on his road to recovery !

Hi everyone, this is Luke! He is in Temple Street since last week, and is after having 2 surgeries on his brain to drain a build up of infectious fluid. Up until a few wks ago he was a happy, funny, easygoing little boy! He had become a big brother to Mason 11 weeks ago, and he was such a great help to his mom Tanya. Luke loves adventure, to be outdoors, soccer and plays hurling with the rockies in Blackrock. He goes to The School of Music in Cork as he’s loves music so much , he is a fantastic artist too!

Luke’s birthday was the 1st of November, He woke up with a pain in his head and loss of balance, and subsequently tested positive for Covid. Unfortunately Covid disguised the underlying condition. When he had a negative result and was still having headaches and loss of balance, he was then treated for a condition called Pims, but this was not the correct prognosis. Luke started to deteriorate quickly in the CUH, and at 1am last wed morning he was rushed Temple Street children’s hospital in Dublin. A CT scan revealed he had an infection in his brain. He’s had to undergo Neuro surgery twice, and is currently being treated for the infection. Lukes motor-neurone skills have been affected by this and has a long road to recovery. He will need physio for the foreseeable future as his speach and movement has been dramatically effected.

His Mom Tanya has had to leave his little brother Mason in Cork with family while she focuses on Luke, which has been incredibly hard on her. The cost of accommodation and health care is going to mount up over the next few months, and she is obviously worried so so much about everything.

Please if anyone could help and donate towards Luke’s recovery it would be massively appreciated! All remaining funds if any will be donated back to Temple street hospital .

Hey everyone just a quick update , as you may know my own name is Ciara im Luke’s auntie who set up this go fund me and i just want to say thank you so much for all your generosity, its so overwhelming and lovely to see. Luke is making improvements as every day goes on , as you may know the bills and expenses are starting to add up now so i will be withdrawing funds and giving them to lukes mom Tanya . I am updating this as i would like to share full transparency with everyone who donated as to where the money is going! And again a huge thank you to everyone who donated !
