Hi, I'm fundraising for my friend Maishas' beautiful dog Kaya.

If you know Maisha you will know Kaya because you never see one without the other.

Sadly Kaya has been diagnosed with a life threatening tumour that is pressing on her bowel and bladder making it very difficult to go to the toilet.

The tumour is so large it is compromising the functions of her organs, so the operation is essential to give her a quality of life for the time she has left without pain and inhibited functions.

Or in the best scenario the tumor can be excised completely. In that case we would save her life with this surgery.

Kaya urgently needs the operation which has to be done by a specialist team in Lisbon, costs of the operation alone are 2000€ minimum plus aftercare etc.

Kaya is only 7 years old and has been with Maisha since she was a puppy.

She was born on the streets as daughter to a rescued fighting dog and a Belgian Sheppard mix.

Kaya was chosen for Maisha by her other dog Risca.

Risca purposefully took Maisha to introduce her to Kaya as if to say this one please! The rest is history.

She is an amazing dog, she loves to Sheppard the chickens and loves her cat family as well as her humans. She is a loyal, loving, highly intelligent working dog, a faithful companion, beautiful friend and protector.

Currently Kaya's tumour is compromising organ functions that has already lead to a very dangerous urinary retention and bowel blockage. She needs daily enemas that can only be done at the vets, a special diet, medication etc. making it impossible to give her support at home. The trauma and stress of daily vet visits, painful and forceful interventions aggravate the situation and diminish her quality of life.

On Tuesday she has the pre-surgical appointment in Lisbon. If all goes well, she will be operated on Wednesday.
