Healing Hearts: Nursing Students Mission to Nepal

Raising money for vulnerable people in Nepal, who don’t have access to basic health care.

Introduction:

Did you know that more than 25% of the Nepalese population is living below the poverty line? In Nepal, access to basic healthcare is a luxury that many vulnerable communities cannot afford. Every day, preventable health issues devastate families and claim lives due to the lack of essential medical care.

My name is Jasmine, a second-year nursing student with a deep passion for creating positive change and providing care to those in need. Over the past year, I've dedicated 200 hours to volunteering with Ambulance Tasmania, where I witnessed the transformative impact that responsive emergency services can have on a community, especially for the most vulnerable individuals.

Our Mission:

This November, I am joining 11 fellow nursing students from the University of Tasmania on a mission to Nepal. Our goal is to deliver critically needed medical services and healthcare education in Kathmandu. We will be working in health clinics and reaching out to rural communities, providing essential health education that will leave a lasting positive impact on a developing country.

Last year, donations went directly to supplying essential healthcare equipment, including name tags for hospital staff, replacing worn-out newborn scales, acquiring a refrigerator for a palliative care center to store medicine, and ensuring both staff and patient families could safely store healthy meals and more. This year we want to do even better!
