Hi everyone,
My name is Michael, and I run my own small business, Jordan Landscaping. I’ve always taken pride in working hard, staying independent, and showing up for my clients no matter what. Unfortunately, a recent accident has forced me to slow down in a way I didn’t expect.
While working, I was using a backpack blower and walking backward when I tripped over my mower. I fell hard onto part of the machine, and the impact caused a fractured 10th rib and a partially collapsed lung (pneumothorax). I spent 1 day at Emory hospital before being transferred to Grady's trauma unit for another 2 days for observation. I am now recovering at home.
This kind of injury isn’t something I can push through. My work is physical, and for now, I’m unable to keep up with my regular jobs. Being self-employed means that if I’m not working, there’s no income coming in.
I do have health insurance, but I still don’t know what the full medical costs will be. Between hospital care, follow-ups, and time off work, things are uncertain financially in the short term.
