Help for a man that captured my heart..

Donation protected
My name is Zee and this is Day 3 of helping a man who has completely touched my heart — a man named Jason. He is 46 years old, homeless, disabled, and living with severe mental illness. But above all, Jason is one of the kindest, most gentle souls I have ever met.

Despite everything he has survived — trauma, homelessness, disability, and untreated mental illness — Jason is always polite, patient, soft-spoken, and deeply appreciative. He has a childlike innocence, an almost pure sweetness about him, that makes it impossible not to love him. He never complains. He never shows anger. He simply tries his best in a world that has not been kind to him.

Jason deserves safety, dignity, and a chance to rebuild his life. I am doing everything I can, but I need help.

❤️‍ Jason’s Reality: Disabled, Mentally Ill, and Alone

Jason lives with Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Type — a serious condition that causes him to hear voices and struggle with mood and thought stability. This is not his fault; it is a chronic medical condition made worse by years without support.

In 2020, he survived a devastating car crash that left him with:
• A fully disabled right hand
• A degenerative hip condition
• Multiple surgeries
• Chronic, daily pain

These disabilities, combined with his mental illness, make it extremely difficult for him to work, navigate the system, or even care for himself.

Jason’s Effort & Desire to Work

In spite of everything, Jason has a strong desire to contribute. He asked me to help him apply for a job at the Dollar Tree near him because he wants to work, feel useful, and regain dignity.

But realistically:
• His right hand is non-functional
• His hip makes standing or walking painful
• He actively responds to voices
• He was previously kicked out of an assisted living home for talking to himself, which made his roommates uncomfortable.

He wants to work — he truly does — but his body and mind simply cannot keep up. This is why disability benefits, stable housing, and mental-health services are essential for him.

A Brief Note About His Past (For Transparency)

Jason does have a past record from many years ago, including a few non-violent charges tied to difficult phases of his life. None of these incidents reflect the gentle, polite, appreciative man he is today. They were mistakes made during a time when his mental illness was untreated and he had no support system.

The Jason I know — and the Jason you are helping — is kind, humble, childlike in his innocence, and deeply grateful for every act of compassion.

Day-by-Day Breakdown of What’s Been Done So Far

❤️ Day One
  • Met Jason at a nearby gas station on thanksgiving.
  • Offered to get him something to eat & discovered he was living in a shed.
  • Ordered his birth certificate for disability and housing paperwork.
  • Confirmed he has a Fl- Issued ID.
  • Gave him some water, snacks, blanket from my home to keep warm through the night.

❤️ Day Two
• Bought food, toiletries, pillows, and a memory foam sleeping mat.
• Took him to a food pantry — they generously gave many groceries.
• I store the groceries at my home and cook daily meals for him.
• Spent $100 on additional food/snacks for him to keep at the shed.

Purchased:
• A 4GB data plan for communication $20
• A warm king-size comforter $45
• A thick hoodie for extra warmth $30

• Picked up his five mental-health prescriptions (FREE through his government insurance).

❤️ Day Three
• Brought him to a homeless outreach center — they provided new clothes, new shoes, and a blow-up bed (too large).
• Ordered a smaller twin-sized inflatable bed that will fit.

Spent $150 on essential survival items:
• Portable Power Station (88Wh)
• Wallet
• Hair clippers
• Solar crank emergency radio
• Charging backpack
• Heated emergency blankets
• Waterproof document cases
• Phone case
• Took him to a Presbyterian church soup kitchen:
• He received a hot meal
• Plus fruit and enough extra food to last him through the day
• Reviewed his hospital discharge papers confirming his diagnosis:
Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Type

What’s Next

I found the name of Jason’s social worker (no direct number provided) on his hospital records and will be contacting her on Monday, December 1st. This will hopefully help restart:
• Disability benefits (SSI/SSDI)
• SNAP food assistance
• Housing services
• Mental-health case management
• Medication follow-ups
• Long-term stability planning

But the system takes time — sometimes weeks or months — and Jason needs continued help to stay warm, fed, and safe in the meantime.

How Donations Will Help Jason Immediately

Your donations will support:
• Daily meals & snacks
• Warm clothing & bedding
• Hygiene items
• Phone service & data
• Mobility and survival equipment
• Transportation to appointments
• Emergency shelter when needed
• A small safety buffer while waiting for benefits

Every dollar goes directly toward Jason’s survival and dignity.

Jason Is Worth Saving

Jason is one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever met. He has a soft, gentle personality, a grateful spirit, and a childlike innocence that makes him a joy to be around. He laughs easily, listens intently, and lights up when someone treats him kindly.

He deserves safety.
He deserves dignity.
He deserves a second chance at life.

Your generosity will directly impact whether Jason eats, stays warm, and stays alive while we fight to get him the help he deserves.

Thank you for caring about him.
