Caring for Carter

Hello. We are fundraising for my newborn Nephew Carter Andrew and his parents. They are in need of support and help from those that are able. My nephew Carter Andrew was born on September 20, 2022 with VACTERL Syndrome. He has been diagnosed with tracheo-esophageal fistula. When he was in-utero his esophagus did not form properly, it actually stopped developing and did not connect to his stomach. What should have formed as his esophagus developed and connected to his trachea. He was unable to swallow and with every breath air was filling his stomach and intestines at birth. He was immediately transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital. His mother had to stay behind to have surgery after delivery due to complications of her own. My Brother was informed by the doctors and surgeons at Children's that Carter would need surgery to remove the extra air way and to reconstruct an esophagus within 24-48 hours. His initial surgery was successful in stretching and attaching the esophagus. He is now a week old and beginning to start frequent and slow minimal feedings of just a few milliliters at a time. He is definitely a little fighter and loved so much! Their family is in need of temporary financial support for necessities and ongoing support for extended hospitalization and medical procedures.

Your love, care, and support for sweet baby Carter is much appreciated!
