After 77 days of war, my family have just got the chance as the Canadian Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister, Marc Miller opened the door for them this Thursday to live in a safer place temporarily. The government is going to be granting three-year temporary resident visas for extended family members of Canadian citizens and permenant residents. This newly approached program will be in effect by Jan 9th.

I am Ruba Sulaiman ,i live in canada, I lived happily and enjoyed every single time talking with my family, but now I cannot even function properly. I feel terrified and anxious about the horrible situation there. I cannot reach my family is the connection and communications are not working due to the heavy bombardments.

In the photo you can see Belal my brother in low and my sister, his wife of 31 years, Bodour , along with their 4-year-old son, Adam, Dalal and Sulaiman my parents and Mohammed my brother, The family lived in a house in Deir Al-Balah, nearly 9 miles from Gaza City. The house had olive trees and a beautiful patio. Even in the early days of the war, in October and early November, as their food narrowed to only the bread they could cook on a makeshift fire, the house provided some degree of shelter and comfort.

As the days wore on and the bombing intensified, explosions could be heard once every 5 to 10 seconds. Between the intensity of the bombing and the news updates they were hearing, the family determined they had to abandon their home and head south, along with thousands of others.

Disease is running rampant in Gaza, as crowding intensifies and water and hygienic conditions dwindle. All of Gaza faces starvation. The bombing continues.

But my family has an opportunity. If they can make it to the Egyptian border, they may be able to join me in Canada. For that, they need to raise the money to make and survive the journey.

They first need to get 7,000 US $ for each person to get through the Egyptian crossing point.

Passports to be issued for them which cost 1600 US $ (265$ for each)

6 plan tickets for Canada cost 6000$

Renting a house in Canada for the first two months including their food ,winter clothes and basic needs ( 30000$)
