Maggie's Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
My mother passed away at home, in the small hours of the morning of November 5th this year. She was only 57. Her death was sudden, and my family had no extra funds or a plan put in place for an unfortunate and unexpected event of this level.
Maggie was let go from her job at an Illinois grocery chain earlier this October, following a bought of acute gastrointestinal disease that forced her to stay at home and in the hospital for nearly at week. After losing her job, my mother tried her best to apply for new opportunities so that we could continue to make due on our rent and bills. These have been stressful times for all of us, unemployment is at an all time high and it's hard to make ends meet. Without benefits she felt that it was risky to return to the doctors or visit the emergency room. She passed away in her sleep two days after a resurgence of nausea, most likely due to a heart attack.
My mother's favorite things in life were the Chicago Blackhawks, good food and wine, and the Canadian rock band 'Rush'. Her most enjoyed hobby was riding her bike, and she was an accomplished cyclist. Maggie spent many hours enjoying the Great Western Trail. One of her biggest cycling goals was to ride from Chicago to New York.
Another one of my mother's passions was cooking. She was an excellent chef, and idolized Julia Child. I have too many fond memories of her cooking to write here- her pot roast and risotto were favorites among her family and friends.
The money raised will be used to pay off her cremation and end of life fees, as well as supliment the loss of income due to her untimely death for a short period of time while we recuperate. If you choose to donate to my family, I cannot thank you enough. Every dollar and every share helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our GoFundMe page.
