Help Nadia in her fight against cancer

Nadia Garae is a proud ni-Vanuatu woman living in Port Vila, Vanuatu. She is a loving mum to her beautiful 17 year old daughter and a financial supporter of her elderly mother and disabled sister. She does all of this alone, having been tragically widowed much too early.

When you met this remarkable lady you are struck by her warmth, her quiet intelligence and her generous smile.

Sadly, Nadia's world turned upside down when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in April 2023.

Nadia's beautiful island home of Vanuatu has swaying palm trees and warm blue waters to swim in. A true tropical paradise. For local ni-Vanuatu however, the medical facilities are very limited. There are simply no treatment options for cancer in Vanuatu and there is no chance of fighting this horrible disease without overseas assistance.

Nadia needs to travel to Australia to commence surgery and treatment as soon as possible. The medical insurance is out of reach for Nadia and most ni-Vanuatu. Nadia's basic treatment plan is likely to exceed A$50,000, with any number of variable costs to come. Travel and accommodation are added on top of this.

We know great things become possible when people come together to support each other. The ni-Vanuatu culture is rich in its belief that it takes a village to raise a family, and it will now take a village to help Nadia beat cancer.
