Amanda’s battle with cancer
My sister in law, Amanda “Amy” Bronga, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Small Intestinal Cancer on April 8, 2020. She was with her mom in NYC in January and February of this year to assist her mom with her mom’s fourth reoccurrence of cancer, when Amy noted some gastrointestinal issues with herself. Amy was diagnosed with gall bladder disease in NYC and opted to have it treated at home, since she lives and works in Utica. She had several admissions to St Elizabeth’s where she is also employed as an X-ray Tech. Finally, she had her gallbladder removed but also had a small portion of of her small intestine removed as there was found to be a blockage. It was sent for routine pathology and she and my brother were called into the office to receive the news that she had cancer.
Amy was placed on furlough due to Covid and my brother had already been placed on furlough through his employer. Amy is being treated with IV chemotherapy and oral chemotherapy. The IV treatment will be completed after August and the pills will
last through the remainder of this year.
Unfortunately, Amy has had an awful time tolerating
the chemo and has had several hospital visits post chemo treatment to treat her side effects. She and my brother will both be working intermittently as he needs to care for her and they have two children to care for as well
Due to Covid , we are unable to have a benefit to help raise funds to assist in medical expenses and we understand this year has been tough on most financially. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
