The "Christmas Toy Appeal in Loving Memory of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes" was founded in 2022, with the aim of the appeal being to purchase and donate as many toys as possible to vulnerable, underprivileged and unwell children in the local community, in hospices, domestic abuse refuges, hospitals, schools, police station referrals, children’s care homes, children dependant on food banks and generally to any other children that otherwise wouldn't receive a gift this Christmas, lying awake at night wondering what they did that was so wrong that Santa never paid them a visit again this year and sadly with the current financial climate this will be the fate of many more children in the local community this Christmas.
As in the previous 3 years of this appeal, every single toy purchased through your very kind and generous donations will be donated in Arthur Labinjo-Hughes name, in Arthur's honour and in loving memory and remembrance of Arthur, with the blessing and unwavering support of Arthur’s loving Mum Olivia and his ever loving Grandma Madeleine, as heartbreakingly Arthur was tragically murdered in 2020, at just six years old, just as his little life was starting to blossom, after the very bravest and single most heroic fight of his life, Arthur finally succumbed to the 130 separate injuries to his broken little body, so sadly Arthur is spreading his awe-inspiringly, stunningly beautiful little wings in heaven now.
Whilst Arthur’s biggest legacy is the systematic change that has been implemented in Children’s Social Services in Birmingham/Solihull and now nationally, due to the unwavering campaigning by Madeleine since Arthur’s tragic passing, ensuring greater safeguarding for all children nationally throughout Social Services, Olivia and Madeleine remain passionate that Arthur’s other legacy should be that as many vulnerable, underprivileged and unwell children in the local community as possible receive a gift from Santa this Christmas, possibly their first ever gift from Santa, in Arthur’s name, honour and in loving memory and remembrance of Arthur.
Last year, thanks to everyone’s very kind and generous donations, collectively we were able to donate well over £3,500 worth of toys to some of the single most vulnerable, underprivileged and unwell children in the local community, identified by working closely with Dunelm in Rustington and Chichester, through their “Delivering Joy” appeal, working with Family Support Work (FSW) who provide emotional and practical support to families in need in the local community, alongside working with a local unnamed Children’s Care Home (who asked to remain anonymous, for the safety of the children in their care), who look after some of the most severely abused children in West Sussex, specialising in care for vulnerable and traumatised children between the ages of 4 to 16 years old.
The "Christmas Toy Appeal in Loving Memory of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes", will once again proudly support and partner with these amazing organisations outlined above for 2025, whereby every single penny (minus the compulsory GoFundMe fees of 2.9% + £0.25 per donation) of any monetary value kindly donated will go directly towards purchasing toys for the most vulnerable, underprivileged and unwell children in the local community, with all costs associated with the delivery of the purchased toys to each location continuing to be covered by myself and I will also donate a significant amount to the appeal, as Arthur, Arthur’s family, this cause and the vulnerable children it supports, mean the absolute world to me, so you can be certain that every single penny donated, minus the compulsory GoFundMe fees will go directly on purchasing toys for Christmas, with pictures of the toys purchased, full receipts and final donation pictures shared on the GoFundMe page, to ensure complete transparency and peace of mind, for Arthur’s family and for all of the kind donors.
Arthur loved reading, so we will incorporate “The Gruffalo” and “The Snail and the Whale” within the donations, along with Trolls memorabilia, Footballs, Build-a-Bear’s and Avenger toys, Arthur’s other favourites.
Arthur was one of the single most loving, caring, brave, generous and thoughtful little boys to ever grace this planet and as such what greater legacy could there be then for toys to be donated in this beautiful little angels name, honour and memory, Olivia's stunningly beautiful little "Baby Bear" and "Best Friend" and Madeleine’s stunningly beautiful little "Sunny Delight", “The Boy With The Superhero Smile”.
Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to read this GoFundMe and for allowing Arthur’s family and I to share Arthur’s story and this Christmas Toy Appeal with you, if you choose to donate or share this GoFundMe then thank you so very much for your support and for putting the "Merry" back into Christmas for so many vulnerable, underprivileged and unwell children in the local community, it is so very much appreciated as always.
As always, all toys are donated in Arthur Labinjo-Hughes name, honour and in loving memory and remembrance of Arthur, loved, honoured and remembered, always and forever beautiful little angel, you are so very, very much loved and missed precious angel, all of our candles burn so very brightly for you, as you shone so very brightly here on earth for as long as you possibly could, the very bravest of little superheroes, thank you for simply being you, perfect in every single way, forever 6, loved always and forever, all for you beautiful little angel xxx
