Hi all, I am Ariel, Dominique’s sister. June 13, 2023, Dominique was diagnosed with breast cancer and has had to put a hold on her dog board/train business. Dom has been transforming dogs and owner’s lives, by training and rehabilitating dog’s behaviors so both owners and dogs can live a much happier life. In her 4 years of working with dogs, she has shown love and care to over 150 dogs. Working and training dogs is extremely taxing physically. Dom will no longer be able to continue what she loves while undergoing chemotherapy. With me in Ohio, and Dom in Virginia, I understand the helpless feeling. I am offering this opportunity to support Dom throughout her cancer treatment. Please know donating here to Dom will…lessen the pressure for Dom to continue working through chemotherapy, help fund her specialty diet, contribute to the cost of her medical bills, provide gas money for trips to and from the hospital, fund heated blankets and other specialty items to improve her therapy experience, and so much more. I will also provide updates through this webpage on Dominique’s treatment progress.
7/6/23 Update: I have started chemotherapy weekly and my body is adjusting to treatments. I am on prescribed medication to relieve the side effects from chemotherapy, which mainly include nausea so far. Because my symptoms have been on the milder side, I am able to still stay as active as I can and have more good days than bad. Each week, my labs have come back “excellent” and I am able to have feelings of normalcy at times.
A huge silver lining, if anything, is that now I have a medical cannabis card. The cannabis doctor who authorized my certification told me that THC has been proven to relieve most of the symptoms I experienced from treatments. I am hoping I can rely on THC instead of my prescribed medication, which has more, less desirable side-effects.
I am eating as clean as I can and have even started taking super foods, like turkey tail mushrooms, which have immune supporting properties. My diet consists of lots of ginger, cold pressed jucies, aloe vera juice, fruits and vegetables. Occasionally, I have weird cravings but I try to eat as much as I can whenever I have an appetite.
Thank you all for the support. Because of the donations and supplies sent to me from from friends/family, this journey has been so much easier on me. So many people have reached out with a prayer, a testimony, or a mantra to keep the positivity high. Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I’m setting a timeline to be completely healed by Christmas, the best gift I could ask for!
6/28/23 Update: 6/13/23: first diagnosed with breast cancer. Bone scan, chest CT, and MRI all came back negative, no evidence of the cancer spreading past the breast tissue and nearby lymph nodes. Yesterday, 6/27/23, was Dom’s first chemo and started the weekly infusions.
