As most of you know by now, our Kevin was diagnosed on July 3rd with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Kevin started a very intensive chemo regimen on Monday, July 6th which will be ongoing for at least the next four months.  This type of cancer is aggressive, but it is curable and very receptive to treatment. 

Unfortunately, on Friday we found out that it is also in his Central Nervous System (in his CSF).  This will require Kevin's fight to be significantly longer. The CSF chemo regimen requires Kevin to get a small port in his brain to administer the chemo.  The chemo regime for CSF is at least a year. They will be treating the Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and CSF cancer simultaneously.  His doctors are extremely optimistic that he will beat it!  However, it is going to be a much longer road to recovery.

The doctors think it is best for Kevin to transfer to Sloan Kettering to finish his treatment after this first cycle. Kevin’s treatment requires him to stay in Florida for at least another 3 weeks before he can travel to New York City to finish the treatment. Patti, Pauline and myself will remain in Florida with Kevin during this time as his support system. 

 This diagnosis came as a shock to everyone and the anxiety and fears  have only been amplified by the current COVID pandemic.

Kevin is young, strong and resilient and we all know that he will get through this.  

Kevin is an incredible son, grandson, brother, nephew, co-worker, and friend who would do anything for anyone.  Anyone who knows Kevin or the DenBleyker’s know that they are the last people to ask for help and are always doing so much for everyone around them.   I wanted to start this fundraiser to be able to ease at least one of major concerns for Kevin and his family, the financial aspect.  Many of you have reached out and asked what you can do to help so I thought this was the easiest approach. Kevin is only 26-years old and will be out of work (a job at Disney that he loves) for a significant period of time (most likely over a year) and we want him to be able to focus strictly on his health and not worry about his current expenses or future medical bills.  Additionally, there are many expenses associated with the stay in Florida and New York City and I want his family to focus on Kevin and not have to worry about the monetary stuff.
