Rob's College Fundraiser

I like many have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For the last two years, I have worked as a freelance marketing professional, after working eight years in-house for a company. But due to COVID-19, my work dried up and the outlook is not good for anyone in the communications and marketing field. For each job out there, there are thousands of applicants. I had no idea what I was going to do. Then  on Saturday, May 30 I along with many watched the launch of the NASA-Space X Demo-2 mission and the return of United States crew launch capability. It was as engine ignition began that I started feeling something that I had lost a long time ago.

Space and space exploration has always been one of the biggest passions in my life when I was a child. Somewhere along the line, I lost that dream of being a part of the greatest exploration frontier that we have yet to conquer. But it was while I watched the rocket lift-off that I knew I wanted to make a change in my life and follow that childhood passion of mine.

To do that requires me to completely change my life. I always started making changes with the implementation of a regular exercise plan that has had life-altering effects already on my body. The next step is for me to return to school and get a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science and eventually a master’s degree.

I know the journey will not be easy, I have not done any complex mathematical problems since I was in high school. Many of the things I once knew about science was forgotten. But I am dedicated to this, more than I was to anything in my life. I have spent the months since the launch re-introducing myself to the world of science, engineering, and math. I invested in workbooks, textbooks, and more.

The one problem I am faced with is how will I fund my second degree. Since I already have a degree in an unrelated field, I am no longer eligible for most financial aid. At this time, I could no longer afford additional student loans, so I am reaching out to you to help make this dream become a reality.

The money I raise from this fundraiser will go to cover the cost of tuition, books, and general education fees for my first year of college. I will continue to be working full time to cover my personal costs such as internet, phone, living expenses, as well as pay my student loans from my first degree, etc.

Throughout the process, I will be keeping you all updated with videos and more on my social media. It is my intention to be open and transparent throughout the whole process. I hope you join me on this journey.
