Avery Allen Martin Gilchrist is a 17 year old young man originally from Glenmora, Louisiana. He will very shortly be turning 18 on the 25th of August. Right now he is fighting for his life on a life support machine in Shreveport Louisiana. Avery was diagnosed with COVID at the end of July. Avery was then admitted to Rapides Regional Medical Center on August 8th and was placed on a ventilator shortly after due to his oxygen levels dropping into critical conditions. Whenever Avery went into the ER his respiration’s were in the 60s. Average respiration’s are around 20. Avery took a turn for the worst on the night of August 12th. His oxygen levels were not coming up despite of the efforts that were given at Rapides. They had done everything they possibly could for Avery. With his oxygen levels staying in the 70s with 100% of the ventilator on his organs would eventually start shutting down. They had no other choice but to move Avery somewhere that offered life support. August 13th at around 6pm, Avery was put on a portable life support machine and has been moved to LSU Shreveport to be put on the life support machine there. Whenever they put Avery on the portable life support machine his oxygen levels rose to 97%!!!!!!!! The doctors are expecting Avery to have to stay on life support for two months. We are hoping and praying that this is exactly what Avery needs right now at this time no matter how scary it may seem. Avery has a very long recovery but with God ALL things are possible! We are asking for prayers and assistance with gas/food money for travel to Shreveport to be with him while he fights.  Please if you’re able to donate anything it is greatly appreciated.
