My amazing son Scott and beautiful daughter in-law Tarni have been through so much over the last 2 years. Two years ago my son was diagnosed with a miligant melinona. After surgery, the first 12 months he had to have 3 monthly scans. Last month his scan came back with a diagnosis of sarcoidosis, which means more treatment. This leaves him with little to no energy to live a normal life.
All this happening and I get a phone call from them to tell me they are pregnant. They have been trying for 10 years but with all what was going on with my sons health they stopped trying and given up any hope for a baby . We were all over the moon I was so excited for them.
Scan at 12 weeks looked good.
They had 2 more scans 1st one at 14 weeks showed Bub had problems a biopsy was done on placenta which came back no inherited abnormalities but there wasn’t much amniotic fluid. So doctors questioned a whether bub’s kidneys were working effectively. Scans also couldn’t detect left leg and right leg had no foot. Bub had a very strong heart beat and was moving.
2nd scan done at 17 week showed there is no amniotic fluid around baby, heart beat very strong and his moving. They found out they are having a boy. They named him Kyrie. At this scan the doctors gave us the heart-breaking news that they couldn’t see bottom half of Bub from hips down. No kidneys, no bladder...we were told bub once born will not be able to sustain life once separated from the cord. They were told them best thing is to stop pregnancy but this was their long awaited baby boy so terminating the pregnancy was not an option.
Their baby was growing and his heart was beating strong they weren’t going to give up on him .
My son had to give up work due to his illness which meant my daughter-in-law had to work but when complications started with the pregnancy the doctor recommended for her to stop work.
With trips to hospital, scans, dr appointment, medications for both of them has caused a huge problem financially which is causing a lot of stress . I just want to help take some of the stress away so they can concentrate on
the baby and each other. They are dealing with so much at this present time, raising money won’t take their pain away but will help with the stress . I’m not telling them yet about what I’m doing as they are proud people and wouldn’t think it was right I don’t know how else to get the sort of money they will need.. so anything I can raise will be a big help to cover expenses after the birth.
