Baby Luca
Donation protected
Our grandson, Luca Alexander was born on 7/20/22 looking very blue. After an initial assessment, he was taken into the NICU for further testing and immediately transferred to another hospital to be examined by their PCICU department.
Luca was diagnosed with pulmonary atresia, and had a cath lab procedure at 2 days old which was not only unsuccessful but incurred complications that left him sick. He was given several days to heal with a scheduled open heart surgery the following Monday, which turned into an emergency open heart surgery the next day at only 3 days old.
The procedure went well, but because his body went through so much, he has a longer road of recovery ahead of him. With two children 3.5 and 1.5 years old at home, a father transitioning to a new job, and a mother recovering from a c section, the family is in need of additional support.
The family has requested prayers asking for Luca’s full and speedy recovery as their number one need. A meal train has been set for the family and we are now working to cover financial needs including: gas to travel the hour there and hour back to see him each day, food while traveling, any necessary hotel stays during the training process to learn how to properly care for him at home, travel expenses for follow up appointments, child care, and bills that are likely ahead of them.
The family would like to note that anything left over and not needed for Luca’s direct care will be donated back to the Ronald McDonald House, Christ Advocate hospital, or another family in need. Tim and Courtney have developed a HEART for children with congenital heart defects, and for the families that have to walk through what they are currently walking through. If you’d like to donate through Venmo, please do so to @courtneymschweiger or if PayPal, [email redacted]. Gas cards would also be helpful and appreciated.
